Course Guidelines

If you are aiming to study at A Level or Pre-U Level, it's usually expected that you would achieve at least a 5 at GCSE. To study a BTEC course, you will need a 4 or 5 in the subjects you are hoping to study.

The Application Process

Stage One

We recommend that you read the Prospectus and Course Information thoroughly, then attend the Sixth Form Open Evening. Take the opportunity to talk to the staff about their subjects and find out what interests you and are appropriate to your needs.

Stage Two

Talk with as many people as possible. You may want to approach:

  • Your parents

  • Your tutor

  • Your subject teachers

  • Sixth Form students

  • Deputy Director of Sixth Form (Ms Oxley-Hughes)

  • Director of Sixth Form (Mrs Ward)

Stage Three

Select your courses. Fill in your application form online by Friday 6th December. All applicants will be invited for interview. If you are a Norton Hill or Somervale student, you will be seen by one of our Sixth Form Transition Team to ensure your courses are suitable for your career aspirations.

Stage Four

After the results of your GCSE examinations you will be able to discuss any concerns or changes you might wish to make with either Mrs Ward or Ms Oxley-Hughes.
